Hello, i have been very busy, but i have been
reading the posts.
Producing hypnotic effects, as
you all know, can be done in the 'waking' state.
Derren is not the first performer to do a full show
'awake'.
I think in one of my earlier posts i
mentioned Milton's 'hand concentration' induction. This is
in essence a waking hypnosis trick, if that is what
you want it to be. Or it is a building block for
deeper hypnosis.
It enables you to float the
persons hand and then to do whatever you like e.g.
produce anaesthetic effects
Ideomotor responses
such as thinking of a lemon, pendulum dropping ,
yawning, blinking etc etc, are in my opinion some of the
easiest forms of inducing hypnosis. They can enable you
to very easily, produce anaesthetic effects,
catalepsy and taste removal.
Remember, the fact that
people know that hypnotists are hypnotists. It increases
10 fold the ease of inducing the subject. If Derren
told them he was "just learning" his power and
influence would be much less.
Some of the all time
great hypnotists can simply walk up to a subject shout
'SLEEP' and induce a trance. As McGill sates, expectation
to be hypnotised is crucial.
Look at those
crazy American faith healers, that is what they do. If
you think they have the power of God, you will
believe that your pain has been cured. All it is, is
hypnotically induced anaesthetic effects, nothing
more.
I don't know if I have a point. So I will stop
rambling on.
Cheers,
Gordon
P.S. I
am still very busy, but I will pop back now and
again. Sorry.
