The
art of muscle-reading is an old deception, and there
are people today who still try to pass it off as
genuine mind-reading, and succeed.
Muscle-reading,
to find a hidden object, has a surprisingly high
success rate. It is not 100%, but to an experienced
exponent it comes pretty close to it. The method is
simplicity itself; the performer (pseudo-psychic) holds the
spectator's wrist and uses their unconscious movements to
guide him to the place where they hid the object.
Putting it another way; he simply follows the spectator
who guides him right to the location.
