For minkydave:
First, clasp your
hands together in front of you...you can either do this
as you would when praying or as if you were rubbing
your hands with glee (Hands curled and crossing over
each other at roughly 90 degrees).
I find the
second version works best, so that is the one I would
suggest....if you want to be really flash, you can steeple your
fingertips together instead of your palms..
Secondly, push both hands together as hard as possible and
hold the exertion (similar to Charles Atlas' fabled
'Dynamic Tension' fitness scheme....no bully will ever
kick sand in your face after this one!). If you are
doing it correctly, you will feel the exertion in your
biceps, and possibly across your back and shoulders too.
Remember to keep the exertion constant and to your maximum
capacity....imagine you are Superman crushing a lump of coal to make
a diamond for Lois Lane....keep this pressure up
for about 3-5 minutes.
Now, when the time is
up, relax and gently try to pull your hands apart. As
they come apart, you will be amazed as some unseen
force compels them to snap back together again. If you
have followed my instructions to the letter, it should
seem as if your palms are magnetised to each
other.
Have fun trying this out, it really
works!
This technique is also used as an induction
method by many stage hypnotists, who will use this
magnetism to enhance their suggestion (and vice versa, will
use suggestion to increase this magnetism) to
convince the subject that they are unable to unstick their
hands. Ormond McGill's New Encyclopedia of Stage
Hypnosis goes over this one nicely.
I would also
expect that the old 'gripping the pencil' trick could be
used to augment this effect, wherein the subject
repeats to themselves in their head that 'I can drop the
pencil' but find they cannot do so while repeating this
mantra...only when they change it to 'I will' or 'I am' are
they able to drop the pencil.
Hope this
helps!
Daniel
