Well firstly a big THANK YOU to Simon C. I have
to admit (rather bashfully) that I thought Derren
was on Radio 1 at 11pm yesterday !! (as opposed to
11am !!!)
I was EXTREMELY annoyed that I missed
it, but now thanx to you I am downloading it as I
type. Hurrah !!
Now, as has become evident, I am
definitely a fan of Derren's work. However (and please don't
shout at me peeps!) I am becoming increasingly
concerned about his intentions.
Of course this may
sound like the ramblings of a paranoid fool, but I just
started thinking the other day - "Who would make the
ideal leader of a new cult?" and of course the answer I
came up with was Derren Brown.
Now I am not for
one minute accusing Derren of these things, because
such a claim would be foolish and unfounded. On the
other hand though, there have been many documented
cases of knowledge of NLP being misused by clever
people to gain power and trust.
I challenge any
one of you to deny that Derren has captivated you. He
has a definite power over me and everyone I know that
is familiar with his work. As Lauren's club gets
more and more hits each day, I feel I am witnessing
the growing of this "cult".
Of course to begin
with Derren would keep any ideals or intentions to
himself. He would purely entertain people, until he had a
big enough following. Then he could slowly introduce
ideas to peoples' minds.
Please do not mock or
scorn me - these are just ideas I am throwing around,
and I'm telling you them because this is a free
country !! <laughs>
Let me assure you that I
am completely sane, and just a normal 19 yr-old
student. I just don't want any of us to find out too late
that Derren is the next L. Ron Hubbard. Scary thought,
huh ?!
