Subject: Re: Scissors, paper, stone
Hey everyone!
Re: "iamontheinternet's 1st
post", otherwise known as "Scissors, rock, stone" (which
should be corrected to "Scissors, paper, stone"!) – you
are right, I didn't explain it too well, so lets try
again:
(I am not going to explain how to play paper,
scissors, stone, nor the hands you make to play the game –
as I'm sure you all know them already.)
OK, I
want you to imagine you are using your hands to
"gesture" what you are talking about. (Lol! Tony Blair does
this all the time!) However, I want you to now imagine
talking about something, but your hands are now making
the "scissors" (or "paper" or "stone") while you are
talking. Derren does this when talking to the crowd, when
he asks them whether they want him to
"win/lose/draw".
Basically, the symbol he made with his hands
will stick in the players mind when he comes to
play.
I have to admit, I need to research this a little
more (would help if I had the video!). I did try it on
a friend of mine about 30mins ago, and it was
strange how it affected him. I would ask him whether he
wants want him to "win/lose/draw", whilst gesturing
(for example) the "paper" in front of him (it is
amazing how blatant you can be with your gesturing!). For
some reason, he would ALWAYS do the opposite of what I
was gesturing (e.g. I would gesture "scissors" in
front of him while talking, and when we played, he
would come up with "stone" (as stone beats scissors)).
ALL the time, apart from when he wanted me to
draw.
Admittedly I have only done this a few times, and I would
need to do it a lot more to make any real judgements,
but it sounds like UR_FEELINGSLEEPY had some luck
with it!
If you have the video, try to watch it
again, but really try and watch his hands closely WHEN
HE IS TALKING. (if I remember right, you can only
see his hands in a few examples)
Tell me how
you get on!
