Subject: Derren and Mastermind....
I'm just wondering if anyone has any insights as
to how Derren pulled off the Mastermind trick on
MC3. I'm still stunned that the chess guy picked a red
peg when Derren was humming Rudolph the Red Nosed
Reindeer....he even picked up on what Derren was doing (or
trying to do) yet still picked the red....do you think
he was trying to double-bluff Derren here, but that
this was exactly what Derren wanted him to do?
I realise that the blue/green/taupe sequence was
simply setting him up for the fourth peg, i.e. watching
his accessing cues as he visualised the colours he
was saying, and Derren was statistically/pattern
definite about what the first peg was going to be, but I'm
not sure about the gesture he made when he said he
would say 'nothing to influence you'....he seemed to be
rubbing his cheek and simultaneously pointing to his eye
before he started whistling Rudolph. Any
ideas?
On a related note, I taped the show off of C4, and
after the Mastermind sequence, as the show goes to a
break, instead of the blinking eye and white text we
instead get a picture of Derren in a trophy room with
Mastermind on the table and a rather tasty Far Eastern lady
behind him. Anyone know what these trophies are for?
Does he have previous form at Mastermind for example?
