anyone has mentioned the mall yet because it is one of
the more obvious techniques used on the show...I
could tell what (and how) he was doing the first time I
saw it, although I was looking for it...I'm sure if I
was there my arm would have shot just like everyone
else.
Again, the technique centres on NLP/phonetic
ambiguities...cloaking subliminal commands within seemingly ordinary
statements. I first got into NLP and then Hypnosis after
reading an article in Rolling Stone on Ross Jeffries, the
man behind 'Speed Seduction', who uses the same
techniques to pick up women i.e. below me=blow me
and so
forth. Derren does the same thing at the Mall.

These
suggestions are further enhanced by careful use of language,
such as 'handily' and 'reach up and grab'.
Hope that helps. Obviously, the dud ticket trick
is
more popular because it makes you money, hence the
more voluminous discussion of it...nice to know
