Yes, Derren did jump off
before Chris had answered the third question ("Is podium
3 safe?"). Before he asked him the questions about
which podium was safe, he "labelled"
them:
Derren "This is podium no. 1".
Chris (hesitation)
"Okay".
Derren "This is podium no. 2".
Chris (hesitation)
"Fine".
Derren "And this is podium no. 3".
Chris isn't
given an option of replying to this (although he might
have because it sounds a bit like the sound has been
overdubbed).
So even before he asks him whether each podium is
safe, I think he already knows it's probably 3 because
of the labelling dialogue.
