Rose, Bernard (William George) (b Little Hallingbury, Hertfordshire, 1916 - d 1996)
Rose started his musical career at Salisbury Cathedral Choir School from where he went on to study with Alcock at the Royal College of Music (1933 - 1935) and Cambridge before moving to work in Oxford. He was Organist of Queen's College, Oxford from 1939 - 1957, Fellow and Organist and Informator Choristarum at Magdalen College, from 1957 - 1981. He received his Oxford Doctor of Music in 1955 and was a lecturer in music at Queen's College from then until 1981. He was also president of the Royal College of Organists from 1974 to 1976, and he received his OBE in 1980.
